The Whaler 31 ft has been designed to meet the needs of both serious Offshore fisherman and those who just want to get away for the weekend cruise.
The Whaler 31 ft hull is designed for a wide range of sea conditions that will be experienced off shore and on calmer waters and is made using Boston Whaler Industry leading foam core construction technology.
It includes inner and outer skins which are filled with buoyant foam that expands under intense heat and pressure to form a bond between the inner and outer hull. This makes Boston Whalers hull extremely strong rigid and totally unsinkable with 2 ½ times flotation requires by the US Coast Guard!
Additionally, the hull of the Whaler 31 ft is designed to provide you with a smooth dry and stable ride with a deep V and strakes and chines that deflect spray and provide stability in rolling seas. The vessel is also equipped with electric/hydraulic trim tabs.
The present owner has invested approximately $30,000 in improvements since he bought the vessel. Many of the improvements have not been necessary but done entirely in order to make the vessel more enjoyable. The installation of two new costly transmissions was simply done duet the fact that the owner did not like the transmission trolling system; that basically only serves the purpose for deep trolling at very slow hull speed over long time periods such as deep trolling for Halibuts etc. In Northern waters.
The many improvements include…
New factory transmission
New water cooled Marine Air Conditioning system
New removable stainless steel davits
New inflatable dinghy and new Honda hp 4 stroke motor
New 4 stroke 9.9 hp electric start Suzuki trolling motor on Douglas lift bracket
New modern and comfortable swim step
New vinyl upholstery all over the cockpit area including the cockpit coming and cover for life raft
New Sunbrella cockpit enclosures and new Sunbrella dinghy cover and new sunbrella cockpit shade
New Satellite EPIRB
New Plow anchor and two emergency Danforth’s with a new rode
New starting battery’s for Main Diesels, Diesel generator and for electric start trolling motor
New engine hoses and new belts and impellers installed on all three diesels
New Macerator and new hoses installed for the toilet tank and head
New survivance cameras and related TV
New 12 V-110V large freezer in cockpit in addition to the 120V refrigerator in the galley
The navigation systems that includes a Robertson Satellite Plotter with Mexican charts, a Furuno radar and Furuno Dept sounder and Robertson Autopilot and a Ritchie compass and a fishing depth sounder has not been replaced as they are functional in spite of their age. The vessel is also equipped with Solar panels for battery charger.
The vessel is very much suitable for comfortable cruising fue to the 3 very large 340-gallon fuel tanks, the 40 gallons fresh water tank, the vessel Westerbeke diesel generator and the Air condition that cools the vessel comfortable in the Summer heat of the Sea of Cortez.
The new self-Delta plow anchor and the electric windlass is operated from cockpit and eliminates the necessity to enter the foredeck when anchoring. The Windlass can also be operated manually in emergency. There is a 6-person life raft stored on the foredeck. This raft needs recertification.
The main cabin has a U-Shaped sofa with storage under and the cabin also holds the galley with Adler Barbour refrigeration/freezer. Microwave oven and stove, that can be operated either electric or alcohol. EEMAX instantaneous 120V water heater. The galley sink and counter is of good size and the galley has ample storage.
The forward cabin holds a large double bed with ample storage and access to the anchor locker. There are teak folding doors for separation of the two cabins but there doors are in storage as the present owner found them unnecessary. They can be easily reinstalled.
The head with its electric macerator and, sink and shower is of nice size even for larger person. There is a 12V. Hookah in the cockpit including hoses and other diving gear. A very comfortable stainless steel swim ladder was installed in leu of the old uncomfortable standard type.
The vessel is therefore by description ‘turn key ready” for cruising or local enjoyment for the new owners.
